Wetherby
Wetherby Service Station, this site was chosen because of its prominent location on the A1(M). Being one of the biggest single-span canopies in Europe, the aerodynamically shaped canopy is almost quarter the size of a football pitch. This project forms part of the current upgrading of the A1(M), through the Wetherby area.
The Moto site has been hailed as the first carbon-neutral service station in the UK. Its petrol station has already opened and the rest of the site, which includes a Marks & Spencer Simply Food, Costa, WHSmith and Burger King, is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2009.
LMR are proud to have designed and installed the Douglas fir weatherboarding to the main forecourt canopy soffit including the full timber support structure to carry the aesthetically pleasing Douglas Fir timber.
LMR also installed the Tecu zinn bull nose feature and cladding. These two elements were also applied to the forecourt retail outlet in a traditional standing seam arrangement.
All materials used within LMR scopes of works were from sustainable sources and were specifically designed for use in a potentially hazardous environment of a service station.
